Oxe Bar.

To design the Oxe Bar in Santos, Lato started with a question: how could we create an instantly recognizable Northeastern Brazilian identity without filling the space with obvious references?

By then, the studio had completed several projects in the city. We also wanted to avoid repeating a familiar language and develop an aesthetic of the restaurant's own.

Research explored colors, characters, materials and graphic traditions connected to Northeastern Brazilian culture. The palette brought together warm, earthy tones and references to clay, alongside brighter colors that energized the space.

Luiz Gonzaga is one of the project's central figures. His image creates a direct cultural connection to the Northeast and a point of recognition within a distinct artistic composition. Cacti and other references complete the story.

On the stairs, the language changes. References to cordel literature and woodcut prints form an almost theatrical sequence, with figures and animals accompanying the movement between floors. On the facade, an abstract composition speaks to the architecture's colors without relying on the figurative language used inside.

The result is an identity that communicates its cultural roots directly while remaining authentic. From street to staircase, the interventions build an experience designed to create recognition and memory for Oxe.
