Customizing a shipping container means working on a surface with a strong visual presence of its own. Ridges, grooves and metal modules constantly interrupt the image.
For an event at Eldorado's Santos operation, Lato was challenged to turn a large container into an artwork visible even from a distance.
The solution used a more vector-like language, with broad shapes, simplified drawing and strong color. This kept the composition legible despite the uneven surface while connecting it to elements of the company's existing visual identity.
The project also needed to represent relationships beyond Brazil. References to the port and international connections were combined with visual elements from Brazil and Singapore, bringing colors, forms and icons associated with both countries into one composition.
The result sits between institutional identity and art: recognizable within the company's world, yet free enough to turn an industrial object into a large visual work.
During the event, the container was installed in an elevated position, heightening its presence and making scale part of the experience.
